when the final projects are (almost) done.

ergh, am I being moody for updating this blog, dear? and everything in my mind is kinda random....

Dear, I only have one more final project to finish: Psycholinguistics. the test items are kinda psycho!! what kind of sorcery is this, I have to analyze two dangdut songs: Cinta Satu Malam and Mobil bergoyang - i know that the songs are erotic, they state the sexual contents explicitly. that's it. and the lecturer needs a loooong explanation? what?

and I also have to analyze a controversial nursery rhymes.
Add fuel to the flames,
Bite hands that feed you
Breathe down someone's neck
carrot-and-stick
drag your feet.

And I have to give a loooooooooong explanation? agaaain? what I know is only this one: that this  nursery rhymes teach a kid to do violence, and to become a rebellion. that's all. period. need more?

aaargh, it's the only final project left. C'moooon!!

another things that make me confused are about double degree registration, and about my internship. we didn't receive any info when is the period of the registration, even I tried to confirm to the central registration office, they DON'T know where the period is. Shameeee! I wanna register for the double degree. it is supposed to be on the end of the semester, but, heeey... no information attached on the information board, nor in the faculty's office....
About my internship, since I plan to have a class on 'semester pendek' and becoming the supervisor of freshmen orientation, I simply unable to leave my city, therefore I have to find an institution inside this city - and to be more exact, I finally choose an institution in my university.... this is, Central Indonesian Studies - Bahasa Indonesia bagi penutur asing! hopefully i will be accepted as a tutor of theirs.

ah, one more thing! that I just bought several pink things: a KOREAN notebook, pens, correction fluid, bedroom slippers, hello kitty folder, and a writing pad. kewl!

things that made me thankful today :) Alhamdulillah...

1. Had a help from Sulthon to set up my netbook in order to make it connected to ESAC's hotspot. yes, now I'm able to use my google chrome for browsing the net in this public WiFi.
2. Had a super absogoddamnlutely FANTASTIC Trends and Issues in Linguistics class. We invite Pak Effendi Kadarisman to teach us about Verbal Humor and Ethnopoetics. well, actually Pak Effendi is supposed to be our lecturer for this class, but, due to his ill health (he is suffering from uric acid) , he can't teach so many classes. therefore, for this class, he gives it to Bu Renzy. Pak Effendi gave us a very, very clear and complete explanation of verbal humor (along with the examples that made us laugh out loud), and he also demonstrates his ability in nembang when he explained ethnopoetics. we were totally AMAZED. we gave a big applause. I got many new things about ethnopoetics from him. He is very great! May Allah bless him...
3. Had a great chat with my seniors. at first, I met mbak Rina, who finished her study only in 7 semesters (waw!) and now worked as a teacher in pandaan. Somehow, I have to set up my mind to believe that I won't be jobless, as long as I struggle and keep on praying. I also met mbak Ayin, now working as an assistant lecturer, she shared a lot of things about her 'trouble' students. About their 'poor' ability in catching the missing lyrics on song-listening activity. (anyway, Mbak Ayin uses Mocca's song, secret admirer, for the listening activity. yayaaay! I remember when I worked for Ar Rohmah Boarding School, I used Owl City's, Demi Lovato's, and Katy Perry's song as the listening material, hehe)
4. I met my favorite lecturer, and greeted her. what made me delighted was that she replied me with a very friendly tone, in 'medhok' javanese accent that I usually use when I talk to my friends, and it made me feel that I am that close with her, as close as two bestfriends.
5. When we consulted our slideshows for tomorrow's presentation to Pak Beye (hehe, we call him that way, he is our lecturer for Thesis Proposal Seminar), he said that my draft is good (haha... I include the screenshots of some renowned bloggers, such as Diana Rikasari and Tiananda Widyarini) and, guess what? in the end of the consultation, he gave a pack of Dendeng to my friend, Ines. he said that it's good for boarding house kids. Ines will fry those Dendengs and bring them to tomorrow's class, so that the whole class will enjoy it :)
6. The Student Legislative board is about to order for our official blazer!!! yes, finally, we are going to have a uniform that makes us proud. We are one. United in this bond. The senators of Faculty of Letters. Viva Legislativa, Hyuuuuwk!

THANKS GOD, Your blesses made my day :) I am motivated to learn more about linguistics, and to pursue my dream to learn about Constructed Language for my master's degree overseas. amin.

Grammatical Errors Made by Indonesian Bloggers on Writing English Blog Posts

hopefully it will be feasible, easy to be done, as easy as stalking my boyfriend-to-be :)

This is the real challenge of being a scholar. I believe I can do my best on working on this masterpiece. 

It's kinda hard for me to made up my mind for deciding my thesis topic. At first I wanna write a thesis about comparing the cursing style between Avril Lavigne and Blink 182, and I wanna figure out how gender and genre of music influence their style of cursing. But, at last, I found difficulties on elaborating my ideas towards this topic, I can't find the research significance.

actually I have maaaaaany ideas about thesis topics, but I think this one is the easiest, the most feasible, and has more references because many of my seniors had done a thesis related to grammatical errors. Therefore, I can cite their words and refer to their ideas :)

OK, tomorrow I'll start the 6th semester, with new courses that will increase (or kill?) my curiosity in linguistics. about development of language use in society. well, I realize that majoring linguistics is exactly the best choice, it is exciting, indeed... =)

When Pritha Anggiarima talks about ALAY

Alay... pembicaraan tentang ALAY mulai marak di kalangan kita akhir2 ini. Hasil dari Googling sana-sini, mayoritas pengertian Alay adalah seperti ini:

1. Alay means anak layangan. Tapi sekarang artinya bergeser jadi anak yang suka nulis dengan huruf bESaR kEciL dan d1c4MpUr aN9k4. selain itu juga bahasa 'sok imut' dengan berbagai modifikasi fonem. misalnya kata 'aku' menjadi 'agkoh' atau 'aquwh', kata 'online' jadi 'onleent', 'maaf' menjadi 'muuph', apa menjadi 'uppu' dsb. yah - bener2 ga bisa dimengerti.

berikut ini contohnya dalam penulisan kalimat....

alay yang masih 'dasar', seperti ini - yang ini masih bisa dimengerti:

"Mesio goblog aq sek ndue atyy!"

alay yang tingkat 'menengah', seperti ini:

"iiaph bu oriiis,,, maaph iia... saiia kemarend belum sempad ngumpulind tugass..."

dan berikut ini alay yang parah...

Aku pernah sharing bersama teman-temanku tentang Alay ini. mereka berpendapat, "Aku juga dulu begitu!"

Iya, sama. semua orang, termasuk aku, pernah nulis bESaR keCiL. Tren ini memang pernah marak dan pada jamannya dulu, hal seperti itu belum dianggap alay. Tren ini dimulai tahun 2005-an, ketika Friendster mulai mewabah di kalangan kita. Sekarang coba deh kalian buka Friendster, isinya gitu semua kan?

tak cuma di Friendster saja, tapi dalam hal SMS-an juga pake huruf bESaR keCiL sePERti iNi.

Namun guys, kini jaman telah berubah. Menulis dengan huruf besar kecil dan modifikasi kata menjadi bahasa sok imut kini mulai dihindari. selain karena menulis besar kecil itu menyusahkan bagi kita karena kita harus menekan tombol Shift/caps lock berulang-ulang, bagi pembacanya pun juga bingung ini yang dimaksud apa. 'Beudh' itu apa, eh nggletek artinya 'banget'. 'thx voo dett' artinya apa, eh nggletek 'thanks for the add'.

begitu pula dalam hal SMS-an, menulis dengan bahasa modifikasi dan huruf besar kecil sangat menyulitkan dan boros karakter. bukankah tujuan SMS adalah mengirim pesan singkat?

2. Berikutnya, masalah kebiasaan FB-an.

Yang aku tahu itu, dalam menggunakan FB, selain adanya huruf gak karu2an itu, Alay di FB kebanyakan suka ganti2 nama dan pergantian namanya pake bahasa alay. Bisa juga pake nama yang puaaaaanjang dan ditulis dalam bahasa alay, tentunya.

3. Kebiasaan-kebiasaan alay yang lain....

a. nongkrong di mall cuma buat ngeceng, ga beli apa-apa.

menurut aku NGGAK! itu nggak alay! kadang kita butuh refreshing dan larinya ke mall kan! ngeliat barang2 yang lucu2 pikiran kita jadi seger lagi...

b. selalu ada acara 'foto2 narsis' kapanpun dimanapun - bahkan sampe di WC dan warung pinggir jalan.

Iya, menurutku foto2 narsis kalo berlebihan juga alay, dan menurut hasil googling sana-sini, mayoritas alay suka bergaya manyun, telunjuknya di bibir. Aku sendiri juga suka narsis kok, tapi lihat sikon dan momen ya...

c. suka lagu-lagu pop melayu.

What the hell?

Wah kalo yang ini aku ga bisa komen banyak. soalnya aku sendiri suka musik barat, ga terlalu merhatikan lagu indonesia. tapi yang jelas, ada juga alay yang sok nyukain lagu2 barat seperti jason mraz, avenged sevenfold, paramore, dsb.. tapi sesungguhnya mereka nggak bisa nikmatin lagu2 itu! dan mereka dalam hatinya tetep prefer sama lagu2 melayu! jadi dia punya lagu2 barat di mp3nya itu sekedar keren2an ae, koyok hyok-hyok'o... ngono.

That's what I dislike.

d. (ada yang bilang) alay tu....kalo cewek suka pake headband ke sekolah. padahal ga pantes.

gak setuju aku. kenapa nggak, wong pake aksesoris rambut di sekolah gak dilarang. asal jangan yang heboh2 aja. nah, ada yang bilang alay suka pake rol rambut dikelas. itu baru aku setuju, karena roll rambut itu gak pada tempatnya kalo dipake dikelas....

sedangkan kalo cowok, sukanya pake kaos hitam bergambar band2 metal, tengkorak2 gitu lah, dan celana belel.

wah, whether it is included in alay or not, aku sendiri juga ga suka ngeliat mereka. tapi ya lain lagi kalo mereka emang cuma punya baju itu dan itupun sedekah dari orang lain.

guys, that's all my loooong description about alay. now you know what alay is. ini sebuah referensi buat kita agar nggak jadi orang yang disgusting.
